Sweet Sixteen

Word of the Day: Phantasm - 1. an illusory mental image. 2. objective reality as perceived and distorted by the five senses according to Platonic philosophy.

Hello there! It has been over a month now since I've posted, and I'm finally taking initiative to begin writing again. So much has happened over the past month that I don't know where to begin!

Coming back from Rhode Island was bittersweet; it's nice be to be back in California, but I wish that I could have brought my family and friends back east out here with me. I'm going to miss them so much!

I still have not been to the beach yet, which I expected would be the highlight of my summer, and now summer is almost over. I've been hoping and praying that my parents would find some time and take us, but that opportunity hasn't yet presented itself :///

The majority of my summer has mainly been based here at home or in the area. A normal day consists of hanging out with my friend samm who lives down the street from me. I've know her since 7th grade, and she was the very first friend I had out here. We've been best friends ever since. I've had tons of sleepover's with her and every one of them has been great!

To make things easier, I included a list of everything I've done so far this summer. There are too many things to talk about, I could go on forever!

  • Been to the movies

  • Samm and I started our own jewelry line (attack! jewelry)

  • Had tons of sleepover's with samm

  • I learned how to roller skate

  • Had a yard sale

  • Had my cousin Josh come up to visit

  • Had a photoshoot with samm

  • Got over my fear of wearing shorts in public:P

  • Put over $100.00 in my bank account

  • Took pictures in a photobooth

  • Had my 16th birthday party

  • Went on a shopping spree

  • Got "asked out" by my current boyfriend/ bestfriend Jordan as of July 18, 2009

  • Got my very own Pandora bracelet

  • Got my hair cut and put blond highlights in it

  • Joined ASB

  • Went to camp for youthgroups

  • Watched fireworks with samm

  • Walked to McDonald's with my friends

  • Spent the day with my friend Andrew

  • Walked to get icecream with samm from Rite Aid

  • Got my nails done

  • Went out to eat alot, lol

  • Went to a Farmer's Market

  • Ate at the Apple Shed down in Tehachepi

  • Went to work with Steve in Bakersfield

  • Picked up old ties with friends and family

  • Got a new cell phone, haha

  • Had Dunkin Donuts Coffee

  • Started Driver's Education

.....and so much more!

My 16th birthday party was absolutley amazing! I couldn't have pulled it together had it not been for my family and lovely mother. I bet you've already read about the party from my mom's blog Heart 2 Heart, so I won't go into details!

My actual birthday is tomorrow, July 24th! I have no idea what I'm doing tomorrow, I've received no information at all on any plans that might be taking place, so I guess tomorrow will be a "go with the flow" kind of day:)

Well, I just wanted to give you all an update on my summer so far and give a shout out, because I know I haven't blogged in a while:) Hope you all are having an amazing summer and staying out of this dreadful heat!

Yours Truly,

Craisin<33

  1. Caitlyn,

We are super, super proud of all the things you have accomplished this summer! It's not quite over and with Steve's schedule simmering down a bit, we have to get to the beach, camping at least once, and a trip to a lake and go swimming, but I am sure that once you get back from High School vacation Bible camp, all of those except for the beach will be added to your list!

We love you and wish you all of the best on your birthday! Would you like cake for breakfast tomorrow?

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  5. Hi, I came over from Heart2Heart. Your mom and I are new blog buddies. Read it's your 16tth birthday today. I'm 56, so that makes me 40 years older than you! But I can still remember how it was to be that age. Great age... teen years were great years for me, but to tell you frankly, from the perspective of the years, they weren't my best years. I think my best years are now... mid life. Because of all the many lessons I have learned.

But the teen years are important because they are part of your formative years...and your memories. So live it up, enjoy every moment, learn whatever you can... you have a great life ahead of you.

I am praying for you as soon as I send this comment. May this year lead you to discover more of the inner child that you speak of in one of your previous posts. (Yes, I read back about 5 or six of your recent posts - you are a good writer, and you have good insights.) May you be given a new perspective from which to view your past, and present. May God lead you to the next level of the destiny that He has prepared for you!

  6. Wow Caitlyn! You have been busy,

You and Samm created a jewelery line, show me some pieces, maybe I am interested... I am so proud you learned how to skate, and now you have an amazing new boyfriend :)Diet Coke and HOT FLASHES LOL!!! So far its looking great.

You should have Samm do a photo shoot with you and Jordan then frame the picture.

Apple Shed, Tehachepi where is this compared to you, I have never heard of it.

Ohhh and the cell phone, SHHHHHHHHH, thats a secret!!!

You also forgot to put on your list about saving a principal, and bowling! Your a graceful one at that. Oh and last but not least (scaring the crap out of me ) I mean driving with the whole family in the car! Your going to be an awesome driver...
I am sure you will make it to the beach this summer, just hang on tight and enjoy minute of the rest of your summer...

    love you lots,
    Mer
